The article presents an overview of the key trends in the development of animal husbandry in the Republic of Belarus. The main risks in the functioning of the industry are identified. The role of sustainable fodder production in the neutralization of certain negative phenomena is considered and the main trends in its development in agricultural organizations at the present stage are analyzed. A set of organizational and economic instruments for the creation and effective use of a solid forage base by large-scale agricultural enterprises is proposed.
